Seypec donates pet food to support stray dogs at Seychelles Pet Haven
As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, the Seychelles Petroleum Company has extended a helping hand to the Seychelles Pet Haven Society, a local non-government organisation that provides shelter and care to stray dogs.
Last Friday, a group of nine Seychelles Petroleum Company (Seypec) employees – animal lovers from various departments – visited the Pet Haven facility to deliver a donation of dry pet food worth R10,000. The contribution focused mainly on puppy food, addressing the shelter’s urgent need following the arrival of a large number of stray puppies.
Though built to house 125 animals, the shelter is currently caring for over 200, stretching its resources. Seypec chose the society as a beneficiary to raise awareness about the growing stray dog issue in the country and to encourage greater support for animal welfare initiatives.
The company also emphasised the importance of responsible pet ownership, including spaying and neutering, as a long-term solution to the stray population. Seypec noted that many of its staff already contribute privately to animal welfare causes, reflecting the deep compassion shared across the organisation.
