The new fishers pension scheme for artisanal fishermen and which took effect on April 1, 2025 has officially been formalised by the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy; the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade; the Seychelles Pension Fund and the Seychelles Fisheries Authority.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalise the scheme for artisanal fishermen between the ages of 18 and 55 years old, to ensure a financially stable retirement, was held yesterday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy, Maison Collet.
