Seychelles delegation engages with OGP member services at regional meeting |29 March 2025

As part of the side events during the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting, the Seychelles delegation held a productive engagement with a representative from the OGP member services team.
The meeting served as an opportunity to explore the new support services being rolled out to member countries aimed at enhancing the co-creation process and the effective implementation of national action plans.
During the session, the OGP member services representative provided an overview of the expanded range of tools and assistance available to countries like Seychelles. These services are designed to foster deeper collaboration between government and civil society, ensuring that national action plans reflect the real needs and aspirations of citizens. The support will also help to strengthen internal coordination, encourage innovation in policy development, and ensure greater transparency and accountability in governance.
Importantly, the member services team emphasised their commitment to assisting countries in promoting the value of being part of the OGP. By increasing awareness and understanding of open government principles, the services aim to drive greater involvement from both citizens and public officers. This is in line with OGP’s core belief that open, inclusive and participatory governance leads to more responsive and effective public services.
The Seychelles delegation welcomed the initiative, recognising the potential of these services to support their own efforts in strengthening transparency, civic participation and inclusive policy-making. The meeting underscored the importance of sustained engagement between OGP partners to foster a global culture of open governance.
This exchange reflects Seychelles' continued commitment to the OGP values and its ambition to build stronger partnerships that empower both citizens and institutions in shaping the future of governance.
