President Wavel Ramkalawan has expressed his gratitude to 20 long-serving employees of the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited for their dedicated service to one of the key pillars of the economy.
This was during a special meeting with the employees at State House yesterday morning.
The Head of State also encouraged them to pass on their skills and knowledge to the younger ones, ensuring they could also follow in their footsteps.
The Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (Seypec) is this month celebrating its 40th anniversary. According to the company’s chief executive, Sarah Romain, the event was primarily to recognise the employees’ contributions.
“Two of our longest-serving staff members, who are celebrating 40 years with the company, are also retiring this year. It is a wonderful way to continue our celebration,” she added.
The two longest-serving staff members are Janice Tirant and Joelouis Accouche. Mrs Tirant shared that she started as a management secretary with the former Shell company.
“I am proud of myself for having served so many years in one company. I started working at Shell in 1980, and when Seypec was created, I joined in 1985. I am very happy, and I will be retiring in July this year. Now, I will enjoy myself,” said Mrs Tirant.
