Mahe Martial Arts Academy wraps up successful junior BJJ camp in Abu Dhabi

Mahe Martial Arts Academy is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of its very first Junior Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training camp, held at NEST Martial Arts in Abu Dhabi from February 28 to March 3, 2025.

The camp was an unforgettable experience that combined rigorous training, personal growth, and team building for eight talented young athletes.

Under the expert guidance of coach Amadu Jorge, a double-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), the juniors dedicated themselves to training sessions of up to three hours each day, pushing their limits and refining their skills.

Their hard work was rewarded with well-deserved promotions and new stripes, celebrating their exceptional progress.

"The dedication and determination our juniors showed were nothing short of inspiring," said Adrian Nanty, co-founder and coach of Mahe Martial Arts Academy, adding that the camp not only helped them grow as athletes but also as individuals, bringing them closer together as a team.

Selected for their outstanding commitment to the sport, the young athletes – Joshua Allcorn, Mohammed Robert, Elana Cupidon, Marla Sinon, Mia Goldstein, Gofreddo Mameli, Ian Vital, and Harry Barker – showed incredible teamwork and club spirit throughout the camp. Beyond the intensive training sessions, the camp also featured fun and enriching activities such as water parks, indoor climbing, and even indoor sky diving, which helped create lasting memories and bonds. The juniors also had the chance to explore and learn about the local culture, making this experience holistic and fulfilling.

"I really enjoyed spending time training in Abu Dhabi. Not only was it intense from the amount of effort and enthusiasm we put into training itself, but it was also an unforgettable adventure with many exciting activities every day and supportive and friendly atmosphere from the group. It was an incredible opportunity I got to experience, and I loved every minute of it," shared Elana Cupidon.

"The training camp has been an amazing experience for me and it’s something I will forever cherish. Not only has it taught me how be a better person, but it has also taught me how to be a team player and a great asset for my team. I am glad to be a proud member of Mahe Martial Arts Academy" added Mohammed Robert.

This camp was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including the Children Special Fund, SOCOMEP, H. Savy Insurance, Reliance Insurance, and others in the community. Their contributions ensured the trip’s success by covering essential expenses such as flights, accommodation, uniforms, food, and transport. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the parents for their trust and unwavering support.

"We are committed to developing the next generation of BJJ athletes in Seychelles. This camp is a stepping stone as we prepare for competitions coming later this year. It also sets the foundation for growth in the sport, inspiring future athletes to take part," added coach Vivian, co-founder of the academy.

As Mahe Martial Arts Academy looks ahead, plans for the next camp and continued expansion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, and MMA are already underway. The academy remains dedicated to helping young athletes reach their full potential both on and off the mats.
