Foresters claim victory over Rovers

 Reigning Absa Premier League champions and 2026 President’s Cup winners Foresters continued where they left off, displaying composure and style as they secured a 4-2 victory over Absa Premier League newcomers Rovers in the opening match of the Premier League Tournament.

The pre-season Premier League tournament, held ahead of the Absa Premier League starting in October, features six Premier League teams from Mahé – Foresters, Rovers, Real Maldive, St Louis, PTL Brothers, and Bel Air – as well as four Premier League teams from the inner islands – La Passe, Anse Reunion, Côte d’Or, and Light Stars.

In the match played at Stad Linite on Thursday evening, Foresters demonstrated why they are the reigning champions, with Imra Raheriniaina opening the scoring in the 26th minute. Fihobiana Ralaimoriamade doubled Foresters’ lead in the 35th minute, but Evariste Rakotondrahaja reduced the deficit to 2-1 from the penalty spot in the 40th minute.
