Treatment facility will be operational end of April, says IOT |03 March 2025

The Indian Ocean Tuna (IOT) Ltd has said that its facility to treat the factory’s liquid waste will be in operation by end of April as the equipment ordered has not arrived in the country.

The announcement by the canning factory followed that of the Landscape and Waste Management Agency (LWMA) last week, which stated that the factory will no longer be able to bring its liquid waste and fish meal at the Providence landfill due to limited space.

The agency stated that the company has to make provision for its own facility to accommodate its sludge and fish meal on its site.

Through a communiqué, IOT said it had planned to install, commission and start the new equipment to treat the liquid waste by end March 2025, but it has not arrived due to a delay in shipment.
