Finance ministry explains new allowances, taxes announced in Budget Address 2025 |12 November 2024
Local travellers who are 18 years old and above will, as from March 1, 2025, be able to bring in goods to the value of R15,000 compared to the current R5000 allowance permitted, while those below 18 years, will have an R8000 allowance compared to the current R3000.
This was recently announced by the Minister for Finance, National Planning and Trade, Naadir Hassan, in his budget speech 2025 before the National Assembly. Yesterday, ministry officials met with the local media at their headquarters at Liberty House to give details about the new announcement.
