Real Maldive hit five past Marine Maintenance to remain comfy on top

 

After being denied the opportunity to play in the top flight at the end of last season, Anse Etoile-based Real Maldive remain committed for promotion at the end of the season, having dominating the Championship, collecting 27 points from nine wins and a single defeat out of their 10 matches played so far.

Real Maldive of coach Don Anacoura registered their only defeat in the league in October last year when they lost 2-3 to Bel Air.

On Wednesday at Stad Linite, Real Maldive scored five times against Marine Maintenance to stretch their lead to 11 points over second-placed Bel Air who have two matches in hand.

Against Marine Maintenance, Real Maldive needed only 20 minutes to open the scoring through captain Gerick Vidot, before Silvio Adrienne doubled the score in the 27th minute, sending the league leaders to the changing rooms with 2-0 cushion at half-time.

In search of a goal to reduce the lead, Marine Maintenance threw everything into the match in the second half, but it was Real Maldive who extended their lead with a third goal from Marlon Rose in the 63 rd minute.

Malagasy Jocelyn Fenosoa then added a fourth goal for Real Maldive in the 76th minute, before Rose made 5-0 with his second goal of the match.

Real Maldive remain on top on 27 points from nine wins and a defeat out of 10 matches played, having scored 47 goals, while conceding 17. Formerly with St Michel, Fenosoa leads the scoring chart with 14 goals, one more than teammate Rose who has netted 13 so far.

Bel Air are presently second on 16 points from five wins, a draw and two defeats out of eight matches played.

With the same statistics, but an inferior goal difference, Praslin side Revengers are third overall, ahead of Tigers who are fourth on 15 points from four wins, three draws and one defeat out of eight matches played.

On 11 points after three victories, two draws and three losses out of eight matches, Rovers are presently occupying the fifth spot on the table, ahead of Marine Maintenance who are also on 11 points from three wins, two draws and four defeats after nine outings.

Having garnered seven points after two victories, a draw and four defeats, Au Cap are presently seventh overall, ahead of eighth-placed Mont Fleuri who are on five points from a single win, two draws and five defeats out of eight matches played.

LMS United are lying ninth on four points after a win, a draw and five defeats from seven matches contested, one spot above tailenders Bosco, also on four points from a win, a draw and seven defeats out of nine matches played.
