Eight track and field athletes ready to compete in Mauritius
As part of the preparations for the forthcoming 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games, eight track and field athletes left the country yesterday for Mauritius to take part in the Pepsi Cola Under-18 National Championship and Open Championships for seniors scheduled to take place at the Maryse Justin stadium in Réduit between May 20-21.
The event will be hosted by the Mauritian Athletics Association (MAA) which will assume the complete management of the competitions, designating technical officials and the jury of appeal.
The junior athletes who will compete in the Under-18 competition are Emisha Victorin (high jump), Liam Barbé (high jump), Shane Fred (400m), Leah Pool (400m) and Tiphano Uranie (800m), while the seniors are Leeroy Henriette (100m and 200m), Menjel Kilindo (long jump and triple jump), Jerold Alexis (100m and 200m), and Neil Azemia (400m).
They are being accompanied by coaches Giovanni Fanny and Joseph Volcy who is also the head of delegation.
