In the last P6 national exams, Anse Etoile school came out as the best performing school with 62 pupils who took part in the exams.
In a small ceremony held this week at the Anse Etoile community centre, the school rewarded the 22 best pupils from the last P6 cohort (2022).
Pupils who scored A* and ‘A’s, best performer for each academic subject, second overall best and best performer for the P6 national examinations were honoured during the ceremony. It was the first time that so many pupils are rewarded.
Pupils performed better in Social Studies with 12 of them scoring ‘A’s and A* followed by Mathematics with 11 students and Creole with 10 students. The best overall performer was Joyce Marie Jeanne. The second overall best performer went to Aicha Gonthier and the third overall best performer went to Tiana Morel and Gabriella Barrat.
The best performer for English and Creole was Ashmira Anacoura whereas Aicha Gonthier was the best for French and Tiana Morel for Science.
The school’s head teacher, Jacqueline Adolphe, congratulated the pupils and the teachers for being committed and striving hard to achieve such good results.
Even though they had a shortage of staff in cycle three, the school managed to have two P6 classes.
“As our motto stipulates, ‘Aiming for the best’, this is exactly what you have done and you have managed to reap the fruits of all your hard work. The classes were compacted and the teachers tried their utmost to cope with the situation. It was not an easy task; however they persevered and tried their very best to impart knowledge and skills to those pupils. They managed to find means and ways to tackle the different issues which were hindering progress. It is important to note that Anse Etoile school has continuously maintained such good results for a number of consecutive years with school mean being above national mean and we are aiming to do better,” shared Mrs Adolphe.
In order to achieve such results, the teachers were engaged in extra classes before and after teaching periods, created opportunities for pupils to work independently, monitoring of pupils’ progress, and constantly seeking help to tackle unacceptable behaviour and social issues.
Some of the gifts were sponsored by Wilson Nancy and Labriz Hilton Seychelles Hotel and Spa.
