Newly appointed president of the New SDA Mission Seychelles calls on President Ramkalawan |22 February 2023
Pastor Vissen Mootoosamy, the newly appointed President of the New Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Mission Seychelles, paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House yesterday morning.
His appointment is for three years and he will be based in Seychelles.
“This visit is mainly for us to keep the good partnership we enjoy with the government of Seychelles. The New Seventh-Day Adventist Mission has already been working with the government as we share common values. We want our families to grow healthy and our young people to develop good values. We believe that we can brought forward a plus in what the government is already doing and we also believe that the government can sustain the Church in its challenges and aims for the society,” shared Pastor Mootoosamy.
They also discussed how the New Seventh-Day Adventist Mission Seychelles can contribute towards education – on the moral, social and health aspects.
“Our church has our philosophy on education and we are ready to contribute in that sense. We believe that youth should attain excellence but we do not want an elitist system. We believe in a more extended education where children can develop academically, in sports, in arts and other aspects,” explained Pastor Mootoosamy.
New Seventh-Day Adventist Mission exists across the world and in Seychelles it has churches on the three main islands.
“We usually assemble on Saturdays to pray and during the week we have meetings. We also welcome colleagues from other Adventist churches in the world to come and help the members.”
In total, the New Seventh-Day Adventist Mission has 1200 members in Seychelles.
Pastor Mootoosamy was accompanied on his visit to State House by Pastor Nelson Joubert (executive secretary), Elder Hugh Watts (chief financial officer) and Natalie Edmond (director of public affairs).
