The 18-karat yellow gold coco de mer locket pendant

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, many try to sweep their other halves off their feet with presents and other romantic experiences.

Local jewellery-manufacturer Kreolor has teamed up with a student from the Seychelles Institute of Art & Design (SIAD) this year to produce an 18-karat yellow gold coco de mer locket pendant, a statement head-turning piece that is sure to stand out from the rest.

The piece was designed by a student during work attachment, as one of the ways in which she would be evaluated.

The student mixed both existing and new elements, by creating a locket out of an existing coco de mer pendant design, brand manager Isabelle Larue explained to Seychelles NATION.

“A locket is considered as a keepsake and as Valentine’s Day is a celebration of romance and love, what better gift to express your love with a piece of jewellery with sentimental meaning,” Ms Larue stated.

Despite the absence of the typical Kreolor shell elements in the pendant, it is made entirely of yellow gold, the primary precious metal utilised by Kreolor for the past three decades.

Kreolor also offers other jewellery pieces crafted entirely from 18-karat yellow gold.

Initially, the company manufactured a minimal number of pendants as they were unsure of the demand. However, since its launch in early February, there has been an enormous demand, leading the company to produce more.

The pendant is now part of Kreolor’s product offering, and is available in all Kreolor outlets.
