Valabhji couple allowed to collect personal items from properties not detained |11 October 2022

The Supreme Court yesterday ruled that the Valabhji couple, wife Laura and husband Mukesh should be allowed to collect their personal items which are not seized or detained by the police, and that access to properties not under detention order should not be obstructed.

Court stated that this should be communicated by the Republic to the Seychelles police force, and that the matter is capable of being resolved without the court’s involvement, thereby not necessitating an order. As per Judge Mohan Burhan, the parties may once again come back to court to seek the necessary orders if the issue still remains unresolved.

Mrs Valabhji had asked the court for an order directing police to allow Mr Valabhji and herself to collect certain personal items from their house, which is currently under detention order. Further, she asked that certain items be collected from properties near the house, which are not under detention order but alleged access to the premises is obstructed.
