A staff member of Air Seychelles, Michael Agathine, was recently awarded a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership.

To honour this achievement, the Air Seychelles management team accompanied by the chief executive of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), Garry Albert, hosted him to a small ceremony last week.

The acting chief executive (CEO) of Air Seychelles, Sandy Benoiton, commended Mr Agathine on his achievement.

He applauded his determination and perseverance in overcoming the many challenges that he may have encountered during his studies.

The acting CEO remarked that this is an achievement not only for the company but also of significant importance for the aviation industry and the country.

Mr Albert also joined in to praise Mr Agathine on his academic attainment and placed great emphasis on the importance of knowledge sharing in the workplace, especially in the aviation world.

Mr Agathine has over 14 years’ experience in the airline industry and is currently employed as the manager of airworthiness and training. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics, has a Master’s Degree in Aeronautics with honours and has now added to his portfolio a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership. Mr Agathine explained how during the course of his studies he was exposed to various airlines’ leadership styles, through interviews with the chief executives of JetBlue, American Airlines and of course Air Seychelles.

He attributed his success to hard work, perseverance and devotion.

He also thanked his family and his colleagues for their support throughout his academic journey.

Air Seychelles and SCAA wish Mr Agathine all the best for the future.
