Cascade Bullets quickly resume top position
As was the case last week, Cascade Bullets needed just 24 hours to re-gain their top spot on the men’s division two league, reclaiming the number one position from Anse Boileau-based AB Boys who leapfrogged them on Sunday after their 63-35 win over Anse Royale on Sunday.
The win put AB Boys temporarily on top of the league table, before Bullets defeated St Louis Saints 66-33 on Monday to climb back in the first position.
Against St Louis Saints on Monday, Bullets came in all guns blazing, completely demolishing St Louis as of the first quarter, winning it 26-7, before winning the second period of the match 18-8 for a comfortable 44-15 lead at half-time.
All out to collect maximum baskets, Bullets intensified their offence in the third quarter, winning 14-18 for a 62-22 lead at the end of the period.
Resting the key players, coach Biko Biong and assistant Valli Ismael made use of their bench in the fourth quarter and this allowed St Louis Saints to score 11 points, compared to four for Bullets, concluding the match on a 66-33 victory for Bullets.
Hensley Bristol was Bullets’ top scorer with 15 points, while Wayne Dogley led the scoring for St Louis Saints with 14 points.
Cascade Bullets are now on 15 points from seven wins and a single loss in eight matches, scoring 547 baskets and conceding 357.
As for St Louis Saints, the defeat keeps them fifth overall on 12 points from four wins and four defeats in eight matches.
AB Boys glide past Anse Royale
Well on course to finish unbeaten, AB Boys maintained their 100 percent winning streak with 63-35 victory over Anse Royale on Sunday, placing them temporarily on top of the table.
After winning the first quarter 16-6, AB Boys kept their composure in the second quarter to again outscore Anse Royale 15-4 in the second quarter, leading 31-10 at halftime.
It was in the third quarter that Anse Royale stepped up their game, putting up a slight resistance and scoring 13 points, compared to 16 for AB Boys, concluding the period 47- 23.
In the fourth and final quarter, again Anse Royale tried to put up a fight, but eventually failed to outscore AB Boys who won the quarter 16-12 and the match 63-35.
Michael Agathine had the hot hands for AB Boys with 22 points, while Dyan Azemia scored ten points to lead the scoring for Anse Royale.
AB Boys are now second on maximum 14 points from seven wins in as many matches.
They have score 539 baskets and let in 293.
As for Anse Royale, they remain sixth on 11 points from three wins and five losses in eight matches.
Two more wins in two matches for Praslin Boys
Having to play two matches per weekend due to logistic reasons, Praslin boys once again claimed victories in both matches played, thrashing MBU Boys 80-22, before defeating the Bel Air Basketball Academy (Baba) 71-53.
Against MBU Boys, the Praslin side had total control of the match, winning the first two quarters 18-6 and 20-2 for a comfortable 38-8 lead at half-time.
Praslin further dominated the two remaining quarters by the same score – 21-7 – to easily win the match 80-22.
In their second match against Baba, Praslin Boys lost the first quarter 11-14 to the young Baba players.
Stepping up their game in the second quarter, Praslin Boys narrowly outscored Baba 12-11, cutting their lead to 25-23 at half-time.
Feeling the pressure, Praslin Boys came out stronger in the third quarter, scoring 24 points, against 18 for Baba, taking a 47-43 lead at the end of the quarter.
In the fourth and final quarter, Praslin Boys chip in 24 more points, while Baba scored only ten, sealing the match with a 71-53 for the Praslin side.
