One Stone emerge victorious to spoil Real Maldive doubles prospect
Forêt Noire-based One Stone are this season’s Seychelles Football Federation Cup winners following their 8-4 victory over rivals Real Maldive in the final yesterday at the Roche Caïman beach soccer arena.
The cup final victory equals the two selections in terms of trophy won this season after Real Maldive won the league title.
To reach the final, Real Maldive defeated Club Stormy 3-2, while One Stone eliminated Sunrise by the same score.
Yesterday’s match started at a high pace with both teams working hard to find the opener, and it was One Stone who scored first through Aubrey Berlouis before Don Anacoura levelled the score for Real Maldive in the last minute of the first period which ended on a 1-1 draw.
One Stone regained their lead in the in the third minute of the second period through Randriana before Andy Mougal doubled their lead at 3-1.
Real Maldive pulled a goal back through Solondrainy, reducing the lead to 3-2, but Aubrey Mathiot restored their two-goal advantage at 4-2, before Randriana scored his second of the match to make it 5-2 for One Stone.
Real Madrid suffered a huge blow in that period after Anacoura received his marching order following a red card.
Early in the third period, Lorddy Sinon scored for Real Maldive, bringing the score to 5-3, but Martin William netted another goal for One Stone to make it 6-3.
Real Maldive had a little bit of hope when Solondrainy made it 6-4, but that was their last goal of the match as Berlouis scored a double One Stone in the final two minutes of the match to complete his hat-trick, giving One Stone an 8-4 victory over Real Maldive.
Sunrise goalkeeper Travis Cadeau has been voted the tournament’s best shot stopper, while Ryan Servina of One Stone was voted the competition’s best player. His teammate Randriana was the tournament’s top scorer.
