Indian High Commissioner Dalbir Suhag bids farewell |08 June 2022
To mark the end of his tenure, the high commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Seychelles, General Dalbir Singh Suhag, yesterday paid a farewell courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan, who was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde.
After his meeting with the president, he also called on Vice-President Ahmed Afif.
Speaking to the press after meeting the president and vice-president, HC Suhag said he had had a wonderful experience working in a beautiful country with warm and friendly people.
He added that through his mission, it had been a pleasure for him to have been able to push forward the agenda of the High Impact Community Development Projects, under the Indian grant, of which some, such as the New Magistrates court, were accomplished under his tenure.
HC Suhag, who will soon be leaving the country for India, stated that he will be available to serve in any position offered to him by his country.
The retired army general was accredited as the Indian HC to Seychelles in June 2019.
On Monday he met and held discussions with Minister Redegonde and the Speaker of the National Assembly Roger Mancienne.
Apart from the completion of the new Magistrates Court at Ile du Port, the one Megawatt solar power plant on Ile de Romainville was also completed under his tenure. They were inaugurated virtually by President Ramkalawan and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April last year.
Among other High Impact Community Development Projects completed to serve the community include the construction of boundary walls and renovation work at some primary and secondary schools in the country and the construction of roads and resurfacing in some districts.
