Number of active cases on the rise

The number of active cases of Covid-19 presently stands at 467. These are 231 more cases compared to two weeks ago.

The moving average is 53 per day compared to two weeks ago which was at 26, showing a 100% increase.

The rate of infection has recently been increasing at a more rapid rate and the Ministry of Health is concerned.

The situation is being closely monitored to inform the public whether preventive measures may have to be applied to prevent further surge in cases that would necessitate the re-introduction of restrictive measures.

People are encouraged to step up individual preventive efforts and behave responsibly.

Any gatherings are opportunities for spread, especially where preventive measures are not practiced. The public is advised that outdoor mass gathering is still prohibited.
