Exercise Lamitye 2022 Joint Seychelles-India military exercise officially launched |24 March 2022
The 9th joint military exercise between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) was officially launched on Tuesday at the Seychelles Defence Academy by the Land Force Commander of SDF, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Hollanda.
In his speech Lt Col. Hollanda noted that in the context of evolving global and regional security challenges being faced by both nations, the exercise will not only increase interoperability between the two forces but will also enable both sides to learn how each is navigating through these security challenges.
The opening ceremony was immediately followed by theoretical classes and weapons demonstration.
Exercise Lamitye 2022 will pave the way for both sides to grow further together by professional and cultural learnings as well as social interactions.
The exercise aims to broaden the participants’ horizons towards knowledge and cooperation aiming at co-existence as one in the Indian Ocean region.
