Five arrested in leisure boats drug seizure to appear before court today |16 November 2021
Five men of Seychellois descent who were intercepted by authorities on November 1 for drug-related activities are due to appear before the Supreme Court again tomorrow afternoon, as the matter continues before the court.
The five, aged between 25 and 52 years old, are being tried for drug-related charges but could face an additional charge for human trafficking, although details are not yet clear cut.
The five were arrested as a result of a joint operation by the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF), the National Information Sharing and Coordination Centre (NISCC) and the Seychelles Police Force which saw the interception of two leisure boats with four of the five accused onboard. The fifth suspect was arrested on November 2.
