Members of the National Assembly’s Defence and Security Committee chaired by Hon. Clifford Andre, yesterday visited the head office of the Financial Crime Investigation Unit (FCIU) at Perseverance to boost their knowledge and understanding of the work of the unit.

The visit was also an opportunity for committee members to learn of and discuss the composition of the unit, challenges it is facing, future plans and its effort to obtain support in terms of resources required to forge the way forward and help it to deliver on its mandate.

In view of the sensitivity of the role of the FCIU another meeting is being planned by the committee to further discuss in detail the needs of the unit especially in respect of the incoming budget that will be presented before the National Assembly later this month.

The Committee was led by its vice-chairperson Hon. François Adelaide and its other members Hon. Michel Roucou, Hon. Doyace Porice and Hon. Audrey Vidot.

The committee members were welcomed by the Commissioner of Police, Ted Barbe, deputy Commissioners Ron Bonnelame and Francis Songoire as well as other members of staff of the unit.
