Covid-19 update |15 October 2021
284 active cases
The latest figures received from the Ministry of Health dated October 13, 2021 show that Seychelles has only 284 active cases of Covid-19 – 245 on Mahé, 37 on Praslin and 2 on La Digue.
Almost 100% of cases are of the delta variant. Community transmission continues and all districts are reporting cases. The seven-day moving average presently stands around 25.
The number of deaths stands at 119.
The Public Health Authority is urging members of the public not to let their guard down and to continue to strictly adhere to public health and social measures such as proper wearing of masks, physical distancing, among others to prevent a surge in the number of cases.
Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign is still ongoing and from Monday October 18 to Saturday October 23, 2021, all Seychellois citizens above 12 years old who have not yet been vaccinated will be able to get their first dose of Pfizer. All 12 to 17 year-olds are asked to bring a signed consent form signed by their parents or come with their parents at the vaccination centres.
Pfizer – Third dose
The third dose of Pfizer will be given to all Seychellois citizens above 60 years with or without comorbidities who have completed their two doses vaccination before April 30, 2021; all Seychellois citizens 50 to 60 years with commodities such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, dialysis, cancer, HIV and other underlying health conditions, who have completed their two doses vaccination before April 30, 2021; and all health workers (irrespective of nationality only if working with the MOH), 18 years and above with or without comorbidities/underlying health conditions (including obesity).
The vaccines will be administered in the following areas:
Mont Fleuri community centre: Monday October 18 to Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm, Saturday October 23 from 8am to 12 noon
International Conference Centre (ICCS): Monday October 18 to Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm, Saturday October 23 from 8am to 12 noon
Anse Royale health centre: Monday October 18 to Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm, Saturday October 23 from 8am to 12 noon
Béolière health centre: Monday October 18 to Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm
Beau Vallon health centre: Thursday October 21 to Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm, Saturday October 23 from 8am to 12 noon
La Digue Hospital: Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm
Grand Anse Praslin health centre: Tuesday October 19 from 8am to 3pm
Individuals are asked to bring their vaccination card in order for them to access the Pfizer third dose
Sinopharm – First and second doses
For those interested in Sinopharm, all persons 18 years and above including GOP holders are eligible for dose 1 and all persons 18 years and above including GOP holders who have taken their first dose before September 27, 2021 can get their second jab.
The vaccines will be administered at Mont Fleuri community centre: Monday October 18 to Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm, Saturday October 23 from 8am to 12 noon; La Digue Hospital: Friday October 22 from 8am to 3pm and Grand Anse Praslin: Wednesday October 20 from 8am to 3pm.
As usual everyone should bring their ID cards for vaccination.
As of now, out of 99,202 people, 80,595 (81%) have taken the first dose of any vaccine and 74,778 (75%) have completed the two doses. 4,019 have taken a third dose (booster dose of Pfizer).
