Protesters demand President Wavel Ramkalawan to step down

For the past two weeks, a handful of protesters have been demanding President Wavel Ramkalawan to step down.

The protesters have been using both English and Creole to make their demands known and they have a laundry list of reasons they believe President Ramkalawan should resign.

They have been concentrating their protestation on Independence Avenue vis-à-vis the clock tower and not far from State House, the Office of the President.

Mr Ramkalawan was elected the fourth President of Seychelles for a five-year mandate in October 2020.

His victory in the presidential election helped the opposition to take power in Seychelles for the first time since 1977.

Anglican priest Ramkalawan defeated President Danny Faure by 54.9% to 43.5%.

The photos show some protesters on Independence Avenue on Saturday.
