Update on Covid-19 cases |18 September 2021

584 active cases

 

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, there are presently 584 active cases Covid-19 in the country, a figure which reflects a seven- day moving average of around 50 cases per day.

This brings the total number of cumulative cases to 20,943.

Out of the 554 cases, 556 are on Mahe, 21 on Praslin and seven on La Digue, which indicates that community transmission is still persisting with all districts reporting cases.

So far, the number of recovered cases is 20,245.

As for the Covid-19 related deaths, the cumulative total is 114, with four cases happening between September 7-14.

Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign continues with a total number 71,091, or 72 percent of the adult population (18 years and over) fully vaccinated.

Regarding the newly-introduced Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, 2485 students – 12 to 17 years old – have received their first doses, representing 39 percent of the population in that age group.

Meanwhile, the Public Health Authority is urging the public to remain extra vigilant and to strictly adhere to public health measures, including the proper wearing of masks, physical distancing, amongst others to prevent a surge in new number of cases.
