STC donates gardening equipment to School for the Exceptional Child |19 September 2015
Children at the School for the Exceptional Child have benefited from a donation of gardening equipment and paint for this year’s Clean up the world campaign.
The donation received from the Seychelles Trading Company (STC) comprises rakes, wheel barrow, and garden tools. It is worth about R7,000.
The handover ceremony of the new gardening equipment took place at the school yesterday morning.
It was a member of STC’s social committee Raymond Simeon who handed over the donation to the school’s head teacher Heidi Francourt.
This was in the presence of the director of primary schools Cyril Pillay, STC’s public relations manager Stephanie Felix, STC staff members and children from the school.
Expressing her gratitude to the STC for its loyalty and devotion for helping the School for the Exceptional Child, head teacher Francourt said the gardening equipment will be used to teach the children technical and vocational education.
“This donation proves that the community has our school at heart. STC has always been loyal to the school by providing us with gardening equipment that will allow the children to develop their skills in gardening,” she said.
She added that the school’s technical and vocational education programme gets the children to learn to develop their ability in gardening and cleaning which will benefit them in the future.
STC’s public relations manager Stephanie Felix said STC has always contributed towards the community.
“It is not our first donation to the school. STC plays a key role by providing much needed help to the community. This donation will come in handy for the school during the Clean up the world campaign and will help the children to learn to develop their ability in gardening. And it will also help to keep the school environment clean,” she said.
STC has since last year been giving a consignment of breakfast items to the school once a month, allowing the children to have a healthy start on each school day.
