More road works to improve traffic flow |06 August 2015

More road works are being undertaken by the Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA) to improve traffic flow in Victoria.

The agency announced this week that it is carrying out a project to improve and widen the St Joseph Street and part of Hangard Street under the Victoria Traffic Management master plan.

Upon completion these improvements will allow traffic to flow easily along both these roads and reduce traffic congestion during peak traffic hours.

The project will involve widening the St Joseph Street, from Lodge and Market Street junction to Buton and Hangard Street junction.

Moreover the SLTA will be constructing a lay-bye and footpath on St Joseph Street to improve the safety of pedestrians and school children.

The construction site will be hoarded to ensure safety before the demolition of the boundary wall and the construction of the new lane, laybye and footpath will begin, the SLTA said.

The project, which is expected to be completed in seven months, will cost R6 million.

The SLTA is advising members of the public to follow all instructions on site while work is in progress and to give their full cooperation throughout the duration of the project.

The SLTA has apologised for any inconveniences that may arise during the implementation of this project.
