Countries seek further improvement in beach soccer |18 April 2015

Yesterday was a welcome break from competition for the teams taking part in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Beach Soccer Championships that has been dominating the sports scene this week and representatives of the eight countries took part in a workshop.

Organised by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (Fifa) and Caf, the workshop, which will continue today, has as main aim improving the game on the continent.

The delegates have the chance to learn new methods and techniques to further develop the game in their respective countries.

The workshop is being coordinated by former Trinidad and Tobago international midfielder Brent Rahim, who is also a Fifa beach soccer and Futsal coordinator.

Speaking to Sport Nation Rahim said: “The workshop is a collaboration between the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF), Fifa, Caf and Beach Soccer Worldwide with the aim of developing beach soccer more, especially within the region.”

He added: “We see great potential for beach soccer here and for this reason, we at Fifa have decided to help in further developing it, especially with the strategic approach to the sport.”

Rahim stated that they do not want to only concentrate on improving the capacity of coaches and referees, but also want to improve how the sport is structured and run as well.

Two representatives from each team are following the workshop which is being held at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel – one of the main sponsors of the tournament.
