Cycling - Arissol wins individual time trial in record time |14 April 2015

Overall leader and reigning cyclist of the year Ahmad Arissol emerged victorious in the 21st race of the 2015 cycling season – an individual time trial – raced last weekend.

Arissol, who was last year named the best cyclist in the country, is showing just why he deserved the title as he is again dominating the competition, with his latest win coming in the 20.1km individual time trial held last weekend where he also set a new record for the event.

The race which took place in western Mahé, saw Arissol cross the finish line in 31 minutes 51.14 seconds (31:51.14) to shave 13 seconds off Fadi Confiance’s previous record time of 32:04.91 set earlier this year.

It was in fact Confiance who finished in second place this time as he relinquished his record, with a time of 32:07.28, while Dominic Arrisol was third with a time of 33:19.88.

The result means Arissol extended his lead at the top of the standings as he now has 801 points, which is far ahead of second-placed Fadi Confiance who has 614 points, while Peter Alphonse remains third with 485 points.
