Seychelles is being represented at the second Summer Olympic Youth Games in Nanjing, China by a six-member delegation comprising three athletes, two coaches and a chef de mission.

The Games will start in Nanjing, eastern China's Jiangsu Province on August 16 and end on August 28.

The three athletes are male swimmer Adam Viktora, female badminton player Chlorie Cadeau and female weightlifter Romentha Larue.

Swimmer Viktora, who took part in the African Youth Games in Botswana and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, earlier this year, will swim the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly.  He is being accompanied by coach Marcel Antat.

Accompanied by coach Calix Francourt, female badminton player Chlorie Cadeau will play the women’s singles in Nanjing after having earlier represented the country at the African Youth Games in Botswana.

As for female lifter Romentha Larue, she will be competing in the 58kg weight category in Nanjing. Like Viktora and Cadeau, she also took part in the African Youth Games in Botswana earlier this year and lifted a total of 113kg.

The team left Seychelles on Monday evening with Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) executive member Simone Malbrook as chef de mission.

Comparable to the programme settings of the London Olympic Games and the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, the Nanjing Youth Olympics will feature 28 sports – adding golf and rugby events – and 222 events attracting a total of 3,868 athletes, 282 more than the last Games in Singapore in 2010.
