NDEA Communiqué - Large drugs consignment seized |27 June 2014
As part of ongoing operations that started on June 25 in the Pointe Larue and Anse Aux Pins areas, National Drugs Enforcement Agency (NDEA) agents seized a large consignment of drugs, believed to be heroin, with a street value of more than half a million rupees.
Two men from the area, one in his thirties and one in his twenties, have been taken into custody following the seizure, and a major investigation is underway.
The men are due to appear in court in connection with the seizure.
In a further development also on June 25, cannabis plants with a street value of R20,000 were seized during an operation in the Forêt Noire area. One man was taken into custody and released pending further investigation.
