Football awards: Archille Henriette claims top prize |28 December 2013

La Passe and Seychelles attacking midfielder Archille Henriette has been named Seychelles’ footballer of the year 2013 in a ceremony held at the Eden Casino, Thursday night.

The ceremony was held in the presence of sports principal secretary Denis Rose, National Sports Council (NSC) chief executive Giovanna Rousseau, Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) chairman Elvis Chetty as well as other members of the SFF executive committee, coaches and players.

Despite not winning any trophies with his team this season, Henriette, the La Passe skipper, put in some solid performances for both club and country, thus earning the best player title for a second time after first winning it in 2011.

Runner-up to the title is Côte d’Or’s hitman Dine Suzette who thrilled the Praslin side’s fans with his goal-scoring abilities. Third place went to Malagasy Branly Zizi who plays for St Francis.

Speaking to Sports Nation, Henriette said: “I am very happy to win this award after a year where I worked very hard on the pitch. I feel very emotional to win this title as I was not expecting to win it for a second time. Now I am going to work even harder to claim it a third time.”

Speaking about his La Passe side’s future, he said: “I think we need to invest in more players especially foreigners as we have failed on this part.”

Division three top scorer: Jerry Freminot – Perseverance (13 goals)

Division two top Scorer: Randolph Elizabeth – St John Bosco (10 goals)

Division one top scorer: Hugo Sezou – Anse Reunion (14 goals)

Beach football player of the year: Michael Cadeau – Real Maldive

Women footballer of the year: Guyra Boniface – Belonie school

Young goalkeeper of the year: Ian Ah-Kong – St Francis

Young footballer of the year: Stan Fanchette – St Francis

Goalkeeper of the year: Kitson Cecile – Côte d’Or

Footballer of the Year: Archille Henriette – La Passe
