Swimming-Twelve follow Kenya training camp |25 April 2011
The trip is part of the Seychelles swimming team's preparation for the forthcoming Indian Ocean Island Games which will take place from August 5-14.
The 12 swimmers chosen for the training camp are Shane Mangroo, Claude Adeline, Aurelie Fanchette, Adam Viktora, Joel Bacco, Anisha Payet, Milun Dhanjee, Clara Omath, Maria Marzocchi, Ryan Govinden, Dean Hoffman and Dwayne Didon.
Expected back on May 8, the swimmers are accompanied by coaches Barnsley Albert and Annette Monthy.
Community development, youth and sports Minister Vincent Meriton and his team met the swimmers and their parents last Thursday at the National Sports Council’s conference room and told them to persevere in their training to be able to deliver on D-day.
He also urged everyone to put aside their egos for the good of the team and the sport of swimming which won Seychelles its second highest gold medal haul – nine – behind weightlifting’s 19 at the 7th IOIG in Madagascar.
