Cricketers happy with all-rounder Kenya training camp |27 October 2010
Organised and funded by the International Cricket Council, the camp was headed by Martin Suji and Joseph Angarra – both former Kenyan international bowlers.
According to cricketers Krishna Naidoo, Sandesh Ananda Kunder and Arvind Nanji Bhuva, the training was fruitful in terms of the knowledge and experience gathered. It involved on and off field education for four days.
On the field, the cricketers were mainly tested on their skills and physical fitness levels.
Classroom sessions were also organised to educate and improve the knowledge of the players on different aspects of the game and to give them tips on how to improve their standard of cricket.
Upon their return, the cricketers expressed satisfaction about the new things they have learned and said that most of this knowledge can be passed on to fellow cricketers and the youngsters.
The training is the first cricketers from Seychelles have taken part in and this follows the efforts being made by the Seychelles Cricket Association after the country became the 105th affiliate member of the sport’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC).
In November, a Seychelles under-15 team are expected to travel to Uganda to take part in a competition organized by the ICC.
