Seychelles Polytechnic Open Day-Secondary students get feel of Polytechnic experience |07 September 2007
Secondary four and five students and Careers Guidance teachers from schools around Mahé had to the chance to learn more about the different training opportunities the institution has to offer, the entry criteria, support services available, as well as student life on the campus.
The two programme areas participating in the Open Day were the Business & Secretarial Studies and the Visual Arts.
In a brief address to welcome the visitors, the director of the Polytechnic, Audrey Nanon, urged the students to ask as many questions as they could to ensure that they clear any doubts they may had as they start thinking about what choices to make regarding their post secondary education.
Mrs Nanon also said that as part of its strategic plan to offer quality training to its students, the school is upgrading its programmes.
After the warm welcome by the school’s director, the visitors viewed the exhibitions.
The School of Business & Secretarial Studies was providing information on courses from certificate to diploma levels that are currently available while the Visual Arts Programme Area was showcasing some of the creative work that students in the textile and fashion courses have produced.
Guided by the polytechnic students and some of the instructors, the secondary students were also granted the opportunity to observe classes in session to get a better feel of what they will be doing if they decide to choose any of those courses.
