GSC Group pledges R500,000 to December 7 disaster relief fund |16 December 2023

Global Supply Centre (GSC) Group has demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by making a generous donation of R500,000 to the  December 7 Disaster Relief Fund, initiated by the Office of the President.

GSC, a leader in food distribution and hotel supplies operation in Seychelles, proudly announced the donation reflecting its dedication in supporting communities in times of need and underscores its commitment to corporate social responsibility.

The recent disaster has left many individuals, families, and businesses in providence and north Mahé with unprecedented challenges. In response to this crisis, GSC recognises the importance of unity and collaboration to aid the affected communities and facilitate a swift recovery.

We must also acknowledge that GSC has not been immune to the impact of the recent disaster. A unit of GSC group, Restofair Seychelles, lost its 1000 sq. metre brand new Hotel Shop cum showroom, which was just opened nine months back in Providence.

The total building got blown off and all expensive equipment, glassware, interiors, and inventory, broke to pieces. GSC’s two major warehouses in Providence also got damaged due to the broken roof and glass partitions.

Chop Shop, its new retail unit in Beau Vallon, got flooded with water, damaging all its chillers and freezers.

Group general manager, Venugopal Beravelli, said having witnessed and suffered the devastation caused by the calamity, they understand the pain and sufferings of people and businesses.

“In spite of the pain and losses GSC is going through currently, it got inspired by government’s commitment in providing the essential aid and support during these challenging times. GSC wants to be part of these efforts, to make a difference in the lives of those affected.”

GSC expressed the company's commitment in making a positive impact, saying, “At GSC, we believe in the power of collective efforts to bring about meaningful change. In times of crisis, it is our responsibility to contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve. Our R500,000 donation to the Disaster Relief Fund is a testament to our dedication to social responsibility and our sincere desire to support the affected individuals and families as they rebuild their lives.”

GSC recognises that businesses play a vital role in creating positive change, and it actively seeks opportunities to contribute to the betterment of society, like it did for the Covid Relief Fund with R500,000.

It encourages other businesses, organisations, and individuals to join hands with the community and contribute to the relief efforts in any way they can.

The company has also approached its suppliers, asking for their support in time of need. One of GSC’s distribution brand ‘Allana’ from India, which is the brand owners of SAFFA meats sold in Seychelles, came forward and pledged an additional US $3,000 to the relief fund. The Mince meat under Saffa Brand, distributed in Seychelles by GSC, is an all-time favourite for many Seychellois in their daily cooking. This shows the brand loyalty of our Seychellois customers, paid back in time of need. The company Allana says that the customers brand loyalty encourages companies like them to join hands to give back to the economy, where they are present.

GSC feels that, together, we can make a significant impact and help our country emerge stronger from this challenging situation.

GSC started its operations in Seychelles in 2005 and the group consists of Hospitality, Trading, Logistics, Construction, and Retail operations.
