Doubleclick group donates 300 books to the National Library

Doubleclick group which includes Marlu Seychelles and Amazon betting has made a generous donation of 300 books worth R60,000 to the National Library.

The books were well received by principal secretary for culture, Cecile Kalebi and head librarian, Anne Mary Robert.

Muditha Gunatilake, the chief executive of Doubleclick, stated that “When we heard about the need of books we felt this was an important project for the country and took the opportunity to buy books from the ship when it came. The library is beneficial to everyone in the country, particularly to our youth. Knowledge is key to development of the nation and libraries play a key role in that process!”

Yvonne Ernesta, customer services and PR manager for the group, noted that “the National Library is an asset to the nation, particularly beneficial to our youth. Hence Marlu Seychelles and Amazon Betting both part of Doubleclick group are delighted at the opportunity to be able to sponsor a significant number of books to the library. Educating our youth is key to the development of our nation and we are humbled to be able to support the cause.”

She also shared that the books cover a wide range of topics, from educational, sciences, cooking, health, novels, and management among others.

PS Kalebi conveyed her gratitude to the group for the donation and shared that “It was a welcoming gesture, and it shows that companies heard the call from the President and the Secretary General (of the National Institute of Culture, Heritage & The Arts) to contribute towards the National Library. So far the National Library has been receiving books, computers and other resources from companies and individuals.”
