International Women's Day

Celebrating women's wellness at Hilton Seychelles

As the world celebrated International Women's Day on March 8, 2023, Hilton Seychelles hosted a special wellness event for its female team members.

This year's theme was ‘Embrace Equity’ with a mission to forge women’s equality. At Hilton Seychelles the focus is on health and wellness to help female talents thrive with a special day full of inspiring and empowering activities.

The event, held at DoubleTree by Hilton Seychelles – Allamanda Resort & Spa, hosted over fifty team members across the four Hilton properties in Seychelles including Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa and Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts. The day started with a rejuvenating yoga session, led by Hilton Seychelles Labriz yoga instructor, Natvar Lal; followed by an inspirational and empowering talk by renowned Seychellois speaker, life coach and author, Marsha Parcou, who shared her insights on women's health and wellbeing.

On a mission to help women achieve a position of power where they can make knowledgeable decisions about their health, Hilton Seychelles organised a complimentary breast screening service provided by Cecile Volcere, Benedicta Aggrey-Mills and Lynn Dine, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Additionally, principal nutritionist Stephanie Desnousse gave a talk sharing tips and advice on healthy eating habits and how they can positively impact women's wellbeing.

Throughout the day, the attendees indulged in healthy snacks and lunch, carefully curated by the hotel’s culinary team. The day concluded with a relaxing afternoon at the beach, where the ladies could enjoy the serene surroundings and unwind.

"We are thrilled to host this special wellness event on International Women's Day," said Julita Jeremie, country director of human resources at Hilton Seychelles. "Our aim is to provide a safe and inclusive space for women to come together, celebrate their strength and achievements, and prioritise their health and wellbeing. On a wider scale, Hilton’s worldwide goal is to achieve gender parity at global leadership levels by 2027. Today, nearly a quarter (24%) of our Africa & Indian Ocean general managers running our hotels are female. In Seychelles, our female ratio is currently at 42% and our commitment is to give more opportunities to female and the youth in general to start a career in hospitality,” she said.

Throughout the year, Hilton recognises and values its team members. Women's History Month, is a unique opportunity to acknowledge and honor the talented females who contribute to making Hilton an award-winning company, and reinforce the commitment to inclusivity, teamwork, advocacy for physical and mental wellbeing, and positive influence.
