UAE donation to ease water strain
The Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) has received three containerised desalination plants from the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The handover, valued at US $2.5 million, was conducted yesterday morning at PUC’s desalination plant in Providence.
The plants were officially presented by chargé d’affaires of the UAE embassy in Seychelles, Ahmed Alneyadi, during a short ceremony attended by President Patrick Herminie; Vice‑President Sebastien Pillay; Minister for Environment, Climate, Energy & Natural Resources Marie‑May Jeremie; principal secretary for Energy & Climate Affairs Tony Imaduwa; PUC chief executive Joel Valmont; board members and staff.
