Controlled reopening of Beolière Road, Port Glaud |18 October 2025
Partial access via one lane during gabion construction
The Disaster Risk Management Division said that following technical assessments and ongoing risk-reduction efforts at the rockfall site in Beolière, Port Glaud, the affected section of the road will be partially reopened to allow access through one lane.
As of Friday October 17, 2025, the Beolière Road will remain closed during the operational hours from 8am to 5pm. The road will be accessible to public only during non-operational hours from 5pm to 8am. This arrangement will be implemented until Sunday October 19, 2025.
This measure aims to ensure continued safety while allowing controlled access and minimising further disruptions to commuters along this route. The immediate risk in the area has been significantly reduced, though it remains active.
Starting Monday October 20, 2025, construction of gabion walls will commence as part of long-term works to stabilise the slope and prevent future rock falls. The project is expected to last one month, concluding on Wednesday November 19, 2025.
During this period:
• The road will remain open through one lane, and signage will be installed to guide motorists safely through the section.
• All pedestrians and drivers are urged to remain conscious of other road users and to exercise patience and cooperation to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure safe transit.
• The public is further urged to remain mindful of potential inconveniences, plan their journeys accordingly, and use alternative routes whenever feasible to ease congestion and support ongoing works.
• Despite this partial reopening, SPTC buses will not be operating along this section of the road. The current alternative arrangements for SPTC bus routes will therefore remain in effect until completion of the works.
The Disaster Risk Management Division and its partner agencies thank the public for their continued cooperation and understanding. “We remain fully committed to ensuring public safety and to implementing all necessary measures to reduce risks and restore full road access as soon as possible,” it said in a press communique issued yesterday.
