The partnership between the community and stakeholders is highly valued as it contributes not only towards the wellbeing of the neighbourhood, but to that of the country as a whole, deputy chief executive of the Health Care Agency, Kathleen Cecile, has said.

Mrs Cecile was speaking during a short ceremony yesterday at the Les Mamelles health centre after accepting a donation of equipment and supplies sponsored by businesses in the areas of Cascade and Providence which are in the surrounding of the centre.

The equipment and supplies which consist of detergents, paints, cleaning materials, fans, dustbins, sanitizer dispensers, air-condition units among others were handed over to Mrs Cecile by Noemie Woodcock who has been the main facilitator behind the donation and also a regular sponsor to the health centre.

Present to witness the handover were also nurse manager for the health centre Monette Ernesta, representatives of the sponsors and other members of staff.

Mrs Cecile described the appreciative gesture as the perfect example of collaboration between the department of health and local communities, especially the businesses.

She explained that since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health, as well as the whole country have been going through a very difficult time which has changed and is still changing the lives of everyone in many ways, thus the donation is very valuable in boosting the day-to-day running of the health centre and portrays the perfect private and public cooperation.

On behalf of the sponsors, Mrs Woodcock thanked all the businesses which she said, despite being struck by the Covid-19 pandemic, did not hesitate to contribute towards a good cause.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, Ms Ernesta thanked the sponsors, through Mrs Woodcook for their assistance, especially during this difficult time due to the pandemic.

She said the supplies and equipment will help them as service providers as well as the clients who use the facilities.
