Labriz resort announces promotions of Marcus Barra and Rebecca Bingham |01 June 2021
Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa has announced the promotions to two key positions within the resort.
Marcus Barra, appointed as front desk manager and Rebecca Bingham, appointed as guest experience manager, are both Seychellois residents with an extensive 12-year experience in the field.
Barra, who served previously as assistant front office manager, is now managing front desk operations of the 111-villa resort. Having joined Hilton Seychelles Labriz family in 2008, Barra has been through various stages and positions throughout his career at Hilton. He moved to Silhouette Island upon his appointment as guest service officer in 2008 before his first promotion to wedding coordinator and guest service supervisor in 2010. Barra then seized an international opportunity within Hilton and joined Hilton Abu Dhabi as guest service agent in 2013, after which he moved back to Silhouette Island and took up his previous position. His first position within management team happened in 2017 upon his promotion to guest service manager, a branch of front office that deals with the guest journey. He then moved to his last position as assistant front office manager before his current designation, in which he found many development opportunities. Having attended the Front Office Academy by Hilton, which is an extensive training that took place in Istanbul, Barra contributed to his career and personal development.
“Where I am right now can be an encouragement for young and passionate locals,” said Barra. “I joined at an entry level position in 2008 and all that was in my mind was to grow within the company and be in charge of my own department – which is now a dream that has come true. I learned so much within my career at Hilton and I keep taking every opportunity to grow myself. We are more of a family than a team on the island, which is what kept me going and motivated.”
Rebecca Bingham joined Hilton Seychelles Labriz as spa manager back in 2018 with 12 years of experience in hospitality industry. Bingham served in various roles in a number of reputable hospitality establishments within Seychelles before joining Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, including Fregate Island Private, Carana Beach Resort, Kempinski Seychelles. Bingham had been involved in many parts of the operations while working as spa manager, which led to her promotion to guest experience manager, a title that manages Eforea Spa, Concierge and Activity Centre on Silhouette Island.
“One of my favourite aspects of working with Hilton is the ability to help craft lasting memories for both our guests and employees,” stated Bingham. “You never have to look for opportunities, they come to you. I was actively involved in guest services, working closely with all the other department heads. Thanks to all of these ties between departments, I grew naturally. Now I am responsible for three key departments of the island operations. I have a beautiful daughter who joins me on Silhouette outside of school days and experiences all that this family paradise has to offer, which I am thankful for. There are so many opportunities for motivated locals who want to work in hospitality, they just need to focus on what they really want and be ready to work for it.
