Inner islands’ tourism sector tackle the issue of workplace abuse

A lot of workers, both foreign and local, go through some sort of abuse in their workplaces. Some prefer to suffer in silence due to fear of losing their jobs. Workplace abuse can come in various forms such as bullying, discrimination and even sexual harassment. The tourism sector has not been spared from this. Workers within this industry have had their fair shares of enduring abuse.

So what can be done to help bring changes, raise awareness and help to create safe workplaces whereby there is zero tolerance for any form of abuse?

We have seen across the last few years how many people have gathered courage and found solace in various social media platforms by circulating videos to either share their experiences or unmask the perpetrators. These videos have had an impact on the tourism industry, its reputation, workers and even the establishments mentioned.
