STB attends German virtual trade show FVW Counter Days |13 May 2021

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) office in Germany participated in the virtual trade show FVW Counter Days held on April 29 to 30, 2021 as a premium partner with a prominent presence prior and during the event.

Present at the digital show were 2,900 travel agents from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The Business-to-Business travel & tourism event for German-speaking travel agents took place for the second time after the successful premiere in February featuring webinars, workshops, talks and individual appointments.

During Counter Days tourism sales staff and other travel professionals had the opportunity to get hands-on information on the re-opening of popular destinations and to network. More than 170 suppliers from all over the world and all sectors of the travel trade presented the latest news and sales advice.

The Seychelles Islands participated as a premium partner with one dedicated hall in order to keep the tropical destination in the minds of trade partners, maintain trade relationships and build new partnerships. The STB was joined by ten local hotel and yacht charter partners from Seychelles namely, Berjaya, Castello Beach, Club Med, Constance Hotels, Hilton Hotels, L’Escale, Mango House, Raffles, STORY and Variety Cruises.

The Seychelles Tourism Board in Frankfurt was represented by their market representative for Germany, Christian Zerbian, at the virtual booth and a panel discussion who also held two webinar sessions to train agents about latest news and the travel advisory.

Speaking about the event and its exposure to the destination, Mr Zerbian said, “We are very pleased that the local trade partners could join the STB at the Counter Days. We had some good chats and audio calls with various agents and were able to build some new partnerships.

“The interest in the destination and the current travel policy is very much there, seeing that the virtual Seychelles hall was among the most popular visited halls and the webinar was even the most attended destination webinar of the entire show. We are confident that the situation will improve soon and look forward to welcoming guests from the German-speaking markets to the archipelago.”

Although Germany is still facing the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic with many travel restrictions in place to contain the spread of the virus, it is clear that travellers still long to escape to paradise.
