Hungarian ambassador calls on Minister Sylvestre Radegonde

The newly accredited Ambassador Designate of Hungary, Zsolt Mészàros, paid a

courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, yesterday at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

Ambassador Mészàros is the first ambassador to be accredited to Seychelles since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister Radegonde welcomed and congratulated the Hungarian ambassador on his new appointment: “We are happy to have you as the first ambassador accredited under the new administration and certainly the first ambassador accredited under my leadership of the Foreign Affairs ministry.”

Minister Radegonde further discussed collaboration that could be beneficial for both Seychelles and Hungary, including issues concerning the International Maritime Organisation, immigration and education.

On his part, Ambassador Mészàros saluted the Seychelles government on the success of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign and the goal to soon reach herd immunity.

Also present in the meeting were the principal secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Marina Confait and other senior officials from the Foreign Affairs department.

The Republic of Seychelles established diplomatic relations with Hungary in 1977.
