President urges all state-owned enterprises to take greater responsibility in staff welfare matters |19 December 2020
In view of the recent developments surrounding the awarding of end-of-year bonuses in some parastatal organisations, the Office of the President is advising all state-owned enterprises through their board and management to ensure that they consult with their workers and communicate all decisions taken pertaining to the bonus payments.
All boards and management are urged to take greater responsibility at this critical time that the country is undergoing financial hardship, to ensure that there is no disruption to operations and employees remain productive and are treated with fairness and respect.
Government also urges employees to act responsibly by using established channels to voice out their views and concerns so as not to jeopardise the operation of critical services that are vital to the country.
Due to the current global economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Seychelles will take considerable time to recover from the prevailing economic realities ahead. Each one of us has a role to ensure continued productivity and stability in the country.
