The UAE leaders have congratulated President Ramkalawan on his election win

United Arab Emirates President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Seychelles Wavel John Ramkalawan on his election win.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent similar messages to President Ramkalawan.

Mr Ramkalawan was sworn in as the fifth President of Seychelles on Monday October 26, 2020 after winning the presidential election held from October 22-24, 2020 with 54.9 percent of the total valid votes.

His party Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) also won a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly elections held at the same time. LDS won 20 of the 26 districts and got five proportional seats compared to United Seychelles (US) party who won the remaining six districts and four proportional seats.
