Over 85 Red Cross volunteers and staff to provide assistance
Voting on Silhouette has not recorded any casualties or incidents, according to Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) volunteers who were on standby there today.
Two volunteers assisted the Office of the Electoral Commission from very early in the morning until the closing of the special voting station on Silhouette.
RCSS volunteers on the island were welcomed by all stakeholders.
As Seychelles headed to the first day of polling yesterday in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the RCSS, an active partner in this election alongside the Department of Risk and Disaster Management (DRDM), have been preparing to ensure that the election goes well. RCSS Command Post was also activated very early in the morning.
The RCSS has mobilised over 85 volunteers and staff to assist in the 26 polling stations tomorrow, Saturday October 24, the main polling day, as well as the two volunteers on Silhouette Island yesterday. Volunteers will be providing First Aid and ambulance services, safety/social distancing, ensure that a high level of hygiene is observed at all times especially during this Covid-19 pandemic.
RCSS is also calling on members of the public to rehydrate themselves well and to drink lots of fluid.
