Virtual sea turtle festival: |15 October 2020
Seychelles sea turtle festival in the time of Covid-19 climate
Every year Sea Turtle Friends Seychelles (STFS) organises the Seychelles Sea Turtle Festival. This year the locally registered NGO is organising a virtual conference to raise awareness on sea turtles. The event will take place on the ‘Zoom platform’, from 10am to 12 noon tomorrow, Friday October 16, 2020.
There will be presentations by various organisations working in turtle conservation in Seychelles, organisations such as MCSS, SNPA, SIF, ICS, TAGS, department of environment and STFS. The conference is targeting secondary schools and the public in general.
This year STFS has taken the Seychelles Sea Turtle Festival virtual due to the current Covid situation. This arrangement will also help students familiarise themselves with the latest technological developments.
In addition to the presentations, the schools will have the opportunity to interact with experts through questions.
The aim of the event is to continue to celebrate one of the country’s most charismatic but threatened species, and gain support of the younger generation for sea turtle conservation.
