ZILWA publication to launch new weekly newspaper on June 27

Alain St Ange and Frank Elizabeth with Chief Justice Twomey after signing the affidavit

A new weekly newspaper will be launched on Saturday June 27 under the name of Zilwa Publication. The ten-page newspaper will be printed locally by Printec Press Holding and it is Alain St Ange who will be the editor.

The newspaper is owned by Exeter Pty Ltd belonging to lawyer Frank Elizabeth and Alain St Ange who has been publishing his own Tourism Report since 2017.

Mr St Ange as the editor of the newspaper was accompanied by lawyer and partner Frank Elizabeth when he appeared in front of Chief Justice Mathilda Twomey to sign the required affidavit in order to publish the newspaper.

“Seychelles needs choice to have a balanced view of the ongoing developments. Often an interview after an official meeting will see only selected politicians called on to echo their views as was the case after the last Electoral Commission meeting with political parties. We felt such practices, especially during an election year, remains unacceptable and echoes a bias and unfair approach. Choice is the main ingredient for a democratic society and with Zilwa publication we are hoping to play our part in disseminating views that are too often silenced to keep the island's flame of democracy alive,” said Mr St Ange.
